Undead Assault offers 7 game modes: recruit, normal, hard, insane, survival, umbrella and competitive.

Contents

Recruit

This mode is made for new players. You can only choose corpsman or rifleman and you get like 3/4 of normal mode XP but missions are easier and zombies weaker. Rifle mode is always on at start. This is more a solo mode, you'll most likely never play it on Battle.Net.

Normal

Stantard mode. It's not really hard, you can easily solo it with any class. All classes are available. Same as recruit you won't play normal mode often on B.Net.

Hard

On B.Net, If you're not playing umb you'll most likely play hard. It gives 1.75x normal xp (About 600-700xp if you complete all missions). All classes are available. It's hardly soloable but a skilled player can do it. Ideal team is:

  • Ghost (mission doer)
  • Detachment Commander
  • 2 or 3 pro corpsman
  • Machine Gunner
  • Forward Observer
  • Global Hawk
  • Combat Engineer

Insane

Ok, the fun starts. You really need a pro team if you want to win this mode because you'll get shitloads of zombies spawning from everywhere. Most people will ignore missions (exepted maybe the convoy one) and run to North town until it gets overun. You HAVE to stay togheter and cover your team. I suggest you to take a class with explosives. Ideal team is:

  • Ghost (mission doer, also plasma nades are good against small zombies)
  • Scout Recon (laser designator and heal is very useful)
  • Detachment Commander (very good with CAS, Reinforcements, and leadership)
  • Forward Observer (CAS and WP are a must)
  • 1 or 2 pro corpsman (if you dont die in town you have like 1% of being rez'd before the 50 min mark, if you manage to survive that long)
  • Cyborg (rocket ftw)
  • Machine Gunner (Concentration ftw)
  • Combat Engineer (barricades, sentry, and other C4 wall)
  • Assaultman (rocket, repair, EC wall?) or Nader (can blow the bridge)
  • Pro Flamer (with max shield, max devotion, Dskin and a few heals you can tank the pudge)

You get 2.75x Normal XP in Insane mode (should be around 1.5k if u finish it).

Survival

Survival is like other modes BUT:

  • You can't revive if you're dead
  • You get 2xp for every minute you survive
  • The missions are completely different from the other modes (mostly boss killing with the exeption of spores purging and marine rescue)
  • If you did all missions and survived the whole game you should get about 600-700xp

Umbrella

Main article: Umbrella

Umbrella is kinda different from other gamemodes: you'll face small zombies (with the exeption of the occasional pudge, Bonnie and Dolly) but also the Umbrella soldiers. At first, they might not be a real problem as long as you stay away from them, but when they start getting Assaultmen, ghost and tanks, uhh.. This mode gives about 4x Normal XP, however the more people playing the less XP awarded (to give an example, solo with -rifle you get about 300 xp for the first mission, on full house you get only 80). It's the most played mode on B.Net. All classes are available exepted Global Hawk. Ideal team is:

  • Ghost
  • at least 2 Corpsmen
  • DC
  • FO (DON'T WASTE YOUR SHELLS! YOU HAVE ONLY 150!)
  • Cyborg
  • Engineer

Missions

  • Generator: This mission isn't really hard. Just gather all the batteries you can find. You need to have 17 batteries to turn on generator.
  • Checkpoints: The best classes to do this one are Sniper, Assaultman and Forward Observer, but you can do it with any class as long as long as you have lots flares. I suggest to move by teams of 2 or 3. Best team for it would be Sniper or Assault man with a Scout recon or a DC.
  • APC: nothing to do with this mission, but if you want to win it you must have destroyed the south checkpoints. APC comes, drop supplies at ST and leaves.Just try to survive.
  • Bonnie and Dolly (also known as Bonner and Dollar): Just two bosses. Umbs will usually kill them. They have about 7k life and they run faster than you, but that shouldn't be a problem with flares and nades.
  • Casualties: You must do this mission. Now it gets fun, 'cause you'll have to face loads of umbs, in large squads. Flare everywhere, and move slowly, but not too much. Dead marines are items so you'll have to make room in your inventory or bring leavers.
  • Final Battle: Well now you'll get reinforcements and you'll have to kill all umbrella soldiers. Cam/Flare all around, burn trees and blow the bridge if you can (you need HE rounds (Nader) or orbs (Heavy support, ghost..) to do it). Try to kill marsksmen, Assmen and ghosts in first, then DC's and tanks. If you did the APC mission you should have lots of MRL, use them. FO should use White phosphorous, also.

Other

Competitive

Competitive is pretty fun if your mates want to play it. You'll play by teams of 3 or 4. You get a random class (depending of your rank?) and you always respawn if you die. There are 3 sub-modes: Deathmatch, Checkpoint capture and Demolition. Guess it talks for itself :)

Outbreak

You can enable it by typing -outbreak (ORLY?) in any mode exepted recruit and umbrella (and competitive?). You get 30% less xp but you'll get only small zombies with the exeption of the occasional pudge and bosses.

Rifle

Same as outbreak, you enable it by typing -rifle. You get 15% more XP and start at lvl2 with 3 magazines, but you can only choose Rifleman or Navy Corpsman.

Navy corpsman can learn the devotion skill too.
