Flamethrower

From Undead Assault II Guide

(Redirected from Flamer)
Jump to: navigation, search

Out of all the MOS in Undead Assault, Flamethrower is the least dependent on item upgrades. The only upgrade that is truely necessary for Flamethrower is the Dragon Skin Body Armor. The flamethrower is probably one of the best support classes in Undead Assault. His main job is to ensure the safety of the squad as zombies push closer. The flames won't burn alies, they only have effect on enemies also. They have one of the best area of effect attacks on enemies without affecting allies which is Fuel Discharge.

Strategies

Hit and run strategies are always the best when being chased. Also each time you hit again it adds the Napalm bonus. Flamethrowers can also attack trees to clear the sight.

Umbrella mode

Suggested skills: max shield, lvl2 discharge, lvl 1 net, max devo or napalm Suggested items: Dragon skin, batteries/egen, saline, flares, grenades, aim assistant.

Shield is very important - press e to activate it when facing umbs, it'll always save your life (i think you can even tank grenades with it). Lvl 2 discharge is enough: you kill umbs and most zombies. Those 2 skills require quite a lot of mana so get some batteries or egen. Net for pudge/bonnie/dolly, eventually umb :O Devotion: bonus armor is always useful Napalm: not really needed because umbs move in groups and apart of pudge/bonnie&dolly zombies are weak.

Flares are always useful. I prefer ground to gun flare because they last longer and umbs think you nade them when you throw one - time to activate shield and discharge 'em.

Since aim assist is the only damage boost you can get, pick one if you can.

Use grenades to push umbrellas closer, then discharge them.

General Umbrella Stratagies

With the above skills in mind, there is several ways a flamethrower can aid the platoon.

The offensive flamethrower will assist with missions, reviving teamates, and generally taking damage for the team. For example, take the checkpoint mission. When you get into town, you start dealing with the possibility of hiding umbrella troops; so, what do you do? Shield up, run in, and chuck a flare down. This also draws any camping umbrella out after you, making them rifle fodder.

A defensive flamethrower will stay back at the camping site and generally focus on the zombies and any umbrella that get close. As said above, you can also use the flamthrower as a damage absorber, and as a flare thrower. A good flamethrower can also run out, burn a few trees, and run back without doing much fighting by being smart.

A general strategy, though, is to keep back from anything over 4 umb or 2 Machine gunners, as 6-7 umbrella spread out and can't be hit by one discharge. 2 machine gunners pack ALOT of fire power, and are a general pain to take out without critical damage.
